We welcomed the summer of 2017 with open arms, and promptly kicked it to the curb. It was one of those summers. The kitchen fell apart, literally – and before we knew it, we were up to our eyebrows in home construction. And it went on….and on….and on…and on. My construction prowess is, ahem, less than that of Chip and Joanna Gaines – spoiler alert. The kitchen project nearly broke our spirit. Couple the renovation with all it entailed (loss of a functioning kitchen, most meals being of that bad-for-you takeout variety, stress eating and drinking all kinds of terrible choices for our bodies…), with the kids being off of school and therefore being ever-present – and you get two straight months of discouragement. Selah. (Update, the kitchen is done, and we are beyond grateful)
But there were a few glorious moments of warm weather induced goodness; thin places that were gifts to our weary souls. And these photos stand as an homage to the beauty found in a season that we were happy to bid adieu. These photos are evidence to us of the simple gifts given to us to be treasured everyday. Our exuberant children, our best friends living next door, physical beauty and awe found in the totality of the eclipse (life changing) and the very visible Milky Way in the mountains of Colorado. Friends, this is a beautiful existence, and we are ultimately more than grateful.
